Our visual acuity is not static. It changes across time based on how we take care or abuse our eyes. Our environment, lifestyle, activities, diet, medications, and other factors can also contribute to our vision. Due to these changes, it is important to go to an eye doctor regularly for consultations and reglaze prescription glasses if needed. In reality, however, few people make it a habit to keep their specs up to date. They simply go when it’s convenient or when they are forced by fate because their glasses were lost. Make sure that you get a new pair if you experience the following:
Glass Damage
If you take your glasses everywhere, then there is a high probability of it dropping to the ground or being sat on. So many types of accidents can happen out there when you least expect it. Most times you will be lucky enough to get through it unscathed. However, sometimes you will find your glasses with cracks or chips on the surface. It doesn’t matter if the damage is minor as there will already be weakness in the lens. Even if you ignore these, they are likely to get worse with time. They will affect your vision so you might as well reglaze.
Vision Change
The problem could also come from within. Maybe the glasses are fine but your eyes are not. Due to intense studies, work, gaming, or other activities, your vision may be worse than it was before. You will see and feel this no matter what you do. You will have trouble reading the words on pages and signs on billboards. You might need to come really close to a poster before you can make out the letters. Sometimes you can pass this off as an inconvenience but it could also be dangerous if you are driving a car.
Lens Upgrade
Even if the glasses are good and the vision hasn’t changed, some people still want to reglaze prescription glasses because they want to upgrade the lens and take advantage of better technologies. One example is a shift to transition lenses. People who drive or ride a bike can experience changes in environmental lighting across a trip. It would be inconvenient to keep switching from dark glasses to reduce glare and clear glasses to see in the dark. Transition lenses are able to adjust so that the wearer doesn’t have to.
