You get two types of air pots (air pots for growing plants and airpots for keeping hot liquid drinks hot), but this article is about AIR POTS
WHAT ARE AIR POTS:
These are pots used for growing plants and flowers. etc.
What makes these Air Pots much more superior to your normal every?
It has greater aeration which is good for not only the roots but the whole plant itself and if you are not as ” green-fingered ” as you wished small mishaps like not controlling root growth and your plant ends up dying because unchecked root growth will literally choke your plant, but this will not happen with these pots.
Root choking happens when the roots “meet up ” with the sides of you normal clay or plastic pots and has nowhere else to go so they start bunching up and start to choke the plant.
As these Air Pots are well and properly aerated it provides enough oxygen to make sure that your plants do not end up with ” wet feet “.
Ho often do you have to water your plants when using these pots?
Everything depends on the plant and the perlite mix you use, but as you get used to the use of these pots you will quickly determine what is is best for your plants when it comes to when and how much to water.
Some people will do it once a day for the first 25 to 30 days then they change to every 2nd or 3rd day, but as I said you will quickly determine your own routine as you learn more about your pot and the plants itself.
How does this self-pruning process work with these pots?
This process is not only good for the plant as it allows you to grow the plant bigger and healthier in smaller pots but also it is an automatic process caused by the combination of the well-aerated pot and the roots coming into contact with oxygen.
Because, as mentioned the pots are well aerated, as the roots grow and reach the side of the pot it will not bunch up like in clay pots but will actually grow out through the aeration holes and once these parts of the roots come into the surrounding oxygen, it will die and drop off on that point where it exits the pot through the aeration holes.
And the pots are designed in such a way that it will naturally force the root to grow outwards, towards the aeration holes and not spirally.
