Outdoor LED strip lights can be used to illuminate your façade or your backyard with ease. These are energy-efficient fixtures that can do more than the usual bulbs. They are often called upon for decorative displays such as in storefronts, Christmas trees, Halloween porches, and so on. The strips can highlight a frame or wrap around an object. They can also be hidden with only the faint light leaking out to the sides for an ethereal glow. When shopping for such lights, make sure that you check the following:
Waterproofing
See to it that the product is specifically stated as waterproof or at least water-resistant. This will give you more confidence to use it outside where exposure to the elements is part of its daily challenges. The operation should not be affected as long as there is proper shielding of the most vulnerable elements. Refer to the product literature or ask the seller for clarifications to avoid any misunderstanding. Tell them about your intended application so they can inform you of the suitability.
Adhesion
There is a built-in adhesive tape at the back of these strips to help with the installation. Nothing else is needed to make them stick to the walls or other items. However, some of these have weak adhesion so they come off not long after initial setup. One of the reasons is the melting of the adhesive due to the high heat given off by the Outdoor LED strip lights. There are products with special adhesives designed to withstand high temperatures so this will not be a problem.
Controls
Consider the controls and their compatibility. Some of these strips can only be turned on or off manually. Others have remote controls that enable the user to change the colors and blinking patterns. The brightness may even be increased or decreased. Some have circuits that allow them to be controlled with a smartphone whether Android or iOS. You could even create a unique blend of hues to make the lights blink with your specified color.
Length
Consider your application and the length of the strip required to complete it. Some might be fine with a short strip of around 5 meters or less. Others might need double this amount or even more. If you are used to these strips, then you can cut short pieces for your own small projects. You could also combine several of them for a very long strip if you have to. Just make sure that the power supply can provide enough current to power everything.
