1) What is HKSI?
The HKSI was developed by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) and is a non-proctored, computer-based test.
2) How does it work?
The HKSI is a performance-based test. This means that you will be tested on how well you can perform the tasks required for your job, as opposed to answering questions about facts and figures related to HR practices.
3) What types of jobs are HKSI certified?
HKSIs certify professionals in many human resource areas: compensation and benefits; employee relations; employment law (discrimination and harassment); hiring processes; training and development; payroll administration; organizational planning/resources development; leadership skills; compliance with laws/regulations such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.; recruitment strategies & selection methods.

5) Who Can Take these Exams?
Anybody can take these exams as long as they meet one of these criteria:
Candidates must be working in an HR role or function OR have been involved with human resource functions for at least two years prior to taking their certification examination. Candidates who do not work directly in the field but want to demonstrate expertise through credentialing may also become certified candidates without meeting this requirement if they hold a master’s degree from an accredited college or university AND completed 15 semester hours of graduate-level coursework in human resource management, industrial relations and/or psychology.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in written English as hksi exams are offered only in an English-language format.
6) How does Long Will It Take
Individuals who prepare for certification examinations should allow themselves six months of study time at a minimum and up to 12 months or longer if they have not been involved with the profession recently — it’s always best practice to retake your exams every three years anyway!
