In addition to the content & performance standards found in the Hawaii Insurance Code and the Hawaii Development Code, another great resource for Hawaii’s real estate is the Uniform Premises Rating Statement (UPRS). The UPRS is a tool used to rate all kinds of real estate, including single-family residential homes, duplexes, multi-family dwellings, condominiums, commercial properties, agricultural properties, and even farmlands. Although not every real estate agent has the ability to offer this tool to its clients, it’s certainly something to consider when looking for the best possible real estate agent to purchase or sell real estate. The Hawaii Real Estate Quality Assurance Commission (HEQA) also provides a rating system for several properties, and Hawaii property owner ratings can also be obtained from the Hawaii Real Estate Division.

One of the largest agencies in Hawaii that provide both content & performance standards is the Hawaii Commercial Registry Association. This organization works closely with realtors and real estate agents to help them better understand and comply with Hawaii’s legal requirements. The Hawaii Real Estate Division also has several important websites to help buyers and sellers find the information they need. These include the Office of the Hawaii Realtor, the Office of the Hawaii Real Estate Assistant General, and the Hawaii Real Estate & Development Assessor’s Office.

Hawaii’s content & performance standards are designed to protect the interest of all residents of the state. The Hawaii State Corporation Commission handles all matters concerning compliance with these laws and can fine and revoke licenses of those in non-compliance. Recently, the Hawaii State Supreme Court has also found the Hawaii real estate board to violate numerous provisions of the Hawaii Real Estate Code.
