The TRX system is an exercise tool that uses straps, handles, and mounts to provide suspension training. It takes body weight training to another level by introducing a variety of angles to target different muscle groups. The inherent instability of the suspended straps also forces the user to develop balance and stability with regular use. A lot of people like this system because you can take it anywhere and get a good workout. It is ideal for people who travel. It is also good for those who have small homes as it does not require bulky machines. However, commercial gyms can also use a large TRX anchor for group exercises.

Standalone Frames

The straps need to be suspended somewhere sturdy because the weight of the user will be tugging on it. Sometimes multiple people will use the system at the same time. The anchor must be strong enough to hold the load. Always check the carrying capacity before adding any number of TRX straps. For example, it is common to find frames with an A-shape on each side and a narrow mounting feature along the top. Some of these are able to hold a dozen or more simultaneous users. Other styles include bridge type frames with two rectangular posts on each end supporting hanging bars where the straps are supposed to go.

Wall Mounts

If floor space is at a premium, then ceiling mounts could be a better solution since they will not have any footprint. Just find an empty spot along your walls and place the supporting L-bars at each side of your main hanging bars. Several TRX straps can be installed in this type of scenario. These could serve multiple purposes. For example, you could also hang punching bags and speed bags on this. You may also use it for pull-ups and similar exercises.

Ceiling Mounts

If the floor and the walls are all occupied, then try the ceiling. You can find X-mounts for solo use. These usually have a circular shape with two bars crossed at the front. Just attach the straps to this TRX anchor and you should be able to do all of the exercises with ease. Just make sure that the ceiling is sturdy and that you installed the anchor correctly.

Door Mounts

Finally, you may want to check out door mounts which are basically metal plates that go on the other side of a closed door. Be sure to lock this before starting your routine so that no one will accidentally open it up.
