5 Best Natural Remedies For Dry Skin

Dry skin is common in winter. This happens when the humidity levels are low, which restricts the moisture content on the outer layer of our body. Dry skin can be dehydrating, and moisturizing becomes an important task, especially in winters. The following are the five best natural remedies for dry skin:

  1. Olive Oil And Honey
Olive oil has antioxidant properties that help soothe your dry, irritated skin. It also protects against free radical damage, which will keep your face looking younger much longer. You can use olive oil directly on your face or mix two tablespoons of honey with one teaspoon of olive oil and apply this mix to your face using gentle circular motions; leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse off with Lukewarm water.
  2. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is not only great at relieving dry, rough skin on your body but can be used to treat itchy scalp too. All you need to do is grind the oatmeal into a fine powder and add some water to make a thick paste. Apply this mixture on your scalp massage gently and leave overnight. Alternatively, you can also mix one tablespoon of honey with two teaspoons of oatmeal, make a fine paste and apply this over dry skin areas, let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse off with Lukewarm water.
  3. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains antibacterial properties that make it an excellent choice for treating acne-prone skin or other conditions caused by bacteria like psoriasis and dermatitis. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties, which calm dry, itchy, and irritated skin and restore the moisture content on your outer layer of skin, giving you softer and younger-looking skin. All you need to do is mix one tablespoon of honey with two tablespoons of coconut oil. Apply this combination over dry body areas or if you have extremely dry skin, then use it as a moisturizer overnight and leave it on for 8 hours (during winter).
  4. Banana
Banana is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can be taken internally as well as used topically on your body’s dry, rough patches. Bananas contain high levels of antioxidants that detoxify your skin cells and give you soft, smooth, and healthy-looking skin. All you need to do is mash a ripe banana, apply this over dry body areas for 15-20 minutes then rinse it off with Lukewarm water.
  5. Aloe Vera For Dry Skin
Aloe vera is one of the most powerful natural remedies for dry skin. It contains enzymes that help repair sun-damaged cells and detoxify your skin by removing impurities that block pores, causing acne breakouts. Aloe vera also contains anti-inflammatory properties, which help reduce redness, itching, and irritation on your dry lips or any other area of the body where you have dry patches. You can use aloe alone or mix one tablespoon of coconut oil with two tablespoons of aloe vera gel. Apply this over dry areas and leave it on overnight (during winter).
